Why I chose network marketing
I used to think network marketing was a pyramid scheme.
I'm a businesswoman
I'm a businesswoman, but I'm also a businesswoman who wants to help people.
And whatever I've done, that has always been the underlying driver.
In my clinic work, that's about helping women feel confident in their own skin, something that every woman deserves to feel.
Why I changed my mind about network marketing
I genuinely thought the industry was predatory, that it wasn't credible, and quite frankly, that the people involved weren't the kind of people I wanted to associate myself with.
So how did I end up involved in it myself?
Well, it was only because someone who was already in my industry, and who I knew had a huge amount of knowledge around skin and skincare, came to me about it that I even entertained listening to her.
Even then, I spent a LONG time looking into it.
I spoke to different people, did my own research and really spent time trying to understand it, because my feelings about network marketing were so entrenched.
One of the things that became really central to my thinking was the influencer industry.
I treat a lot of influencers in my clinic, and I know firsthand that many of them will freely admit to promoting products on Instagram that they don't use or even particularly like, because they're being paid to promote them.
On the other hand, what I was seeing through all the conversations I was having and the research I was doing was that the people who were involved in network marketing, regardless of which company they were with, were speaking from a true belief in the products.
And I started thinking, actually, there's a lot more integrity in that than being paid to promote something you don't even use.
I'm not saying everybody in network marketing is credible or professional, because they're not. But that's not specific to network marketing. There are bad eggs everywhere, we all know that.
But what I did come to realise was that there was professionalism and integrity in network marketing. I just hadn't seen it because I hadn't been open to seeing it.
I then had my own experience with the products. I trialled them and thought the outcomes were incredible. They exceeded anything I'd previously been using in clinic. I trialled them on my clients and saw the same.
I would never attach my name to, or recommend, products, treatments or devices that I couldn't speak from personal experience of and didn't genuinely believe delivered the outcomes they promised to.
Beyond that, the science and research behind the technology, products and devices was so well established.
With all of that data, I started to look at the whole thing very differently.
I genuinely believe that one of the signs of intelligence is being able to change your mind when you're presented with new information, and that's exactly what happened to me.
It didn't change my mind immediately. I had to go away, look at it more deeply, research it, think about it and talk about it.
But ultimately, I realised that my previous misconceptions had been wrong.
I'd been wrong.

Network marketing, in a nutshell, is about helping other people and empowering them. Because when it comes to building a team, you only become successful by helping other people become successful.

I conduct myself in my network marketing business the same way I do in the running of my clinic, with integrity, credibility and professionalism at all times.

I'm of the strong opinion that oftentimes people have thought they could just join a network marketing company, sell a few products, post about it a few times online, have a few conversations, and then they're going to be millionaires overnight.
And because that was never going to be the case, when they don't become millionaires overnight, they've walked away and said, "It doesn't work. It's a scam."
And that only perpetuates the myth of the pyramid scheme.
Nobody makes money like that in any business. It was never a realistic expectation to start with.
This is a business. If you want it to pay you like a business, you have to work it like a business.
Exactly the same as any other bricks and mortar business. I only work with people who understand this and have that business mindset, not people who come in expecting to get rich quickly.
That's not the way it works.
